    When the Mystic Housing Development faced problems with vandalism on its newly landscaped grounds, the Welcome Project came up with a plan to fight back. Rather than punish youth for acts of vandalism, we encouraged our youth to take responsibility for their community gardens. This summer youth from the Welcome Project and members of Americorps led by gardener and landscaper Roberta Hayes came together to clean and plant new life across the Mystic.
