    Over the past few weeks, students in the Welcome Project’s “Helping your Child at School” English class have been talking about communities: What communities they are a part of and why those communities are important to them. For these parents, often new to the language and culture, turning towards the web of relationships that surround them can provide critical support in their lives, and in the lives of their children.

    On January 26, 2011 the Somerville Community Corporation (SCC) gave their annual Hazel Hughes Award of Distinction to youth leaders from the Welcome Project and Centro Presente for their leadership in support for the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act this year.
